Cutting through the Nightwood demands experience and a bit of luck. It will take a few days to find one’s way and some knowledge to survive.
Cutting through the Nightwood
Setup: The group decided to cut directly though the Nightwood after escaping.Primary Skills: Endurance, Nature, Preception
- Endurance (moderate DCs): 2 party members must make this check to resist the effects of wandering. A failure causes everyone to suffer the loss of one healing surge and counts as a failure for the challenge.
- Nature (moderate DCs): 1 party member uses knowledge of nature to find food, clear paths, and clean water. A failure causes everyone to suffer the loss of one healing surge and counts as a failure for the challenge.
- Perception (easy DCs) : You notice a broken branch, hear an approaching creature, stream, or some other useful bit of knowledge. Success: +2 to next Endurance or Nature check. Failure: -2 to next Endurance or Nature check and begin next encounter (if applicable).
Success: The group emerges from the wood without losing any provisions or equipment just before their second night falls.
Failure: The group stumbles out of the wood in the early morning after a harrowing final night. Expend group total of 6 Rations and 1 Sunrod.
Result: Success! They only spend 1 night in the wood and make it to the logging camp before the second night sets in. Reward: 200 XP for the group.
